Danny Heitman is the editor of Phi Kappa Phi's Forum magazine and an award-winning columnist for The Baton Rouge Advocate. 

During his time as a member of The Baton Rouge Advocate's editorial board, Danny helped write a series of editorials on criminal justice reform that was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.   

He has frequently contributed commentaries to national publications, including The Christian Science Monitor, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, and Smithsonian. Danny has also appeared on NPR and the BBC. Danny also writes about books, including as a reviewer for The Monitor.  

He's the author of "A Summer of Birds: John James Audubon at Oakley House," which was adapted into a documentary for public television. The book chronicles a pivotal season in the life of the world’s most famous bird artist.  

Danny is married and lives with his wife in Baton Rouge, where they enjoy life as empty-nesters after raising two children.
